Sheri's Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
2 sticks of butter softened
¾ cup granulated white sugar
¾ granulated light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ¼ cups unbleached all purpose flour
-
Mix the butter with both sugars.followed by the salt and vanilla.
-
Add in the eggs and scrape the bowl with a rubber spatula.
-
Dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of water.
-
Add in 1 ¼ cup flour until blended.
-
Add in the baking soda mix
-
Add in the last cup of flour
-
Mix in chocolate chips. I do not use an entire bag. It is a personal preference how many chips you want.
-
Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least a few hours. You do not have to do this step if you are in a hurry! You can keep the dough in the fridge for a few days and bake when you have time or when you want your house to smell like freshly made cookies.
-
When you are ready to bake, put parchment paper on your cookie sheets or line with aluminum foil, shiny side up. This makes cleanup easier.
-
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Roll the dough into 1 inch balls. You can make them a little bigger if you want. Place on cookie sheets a few inches apart.
-
Bake 2 sheets at a time, flipping up and down and front to back after 5 minutes. Bake another 5-7 minutes until a light brown on top. If you want crispy cookies, bake longer. We like our cookies soft on the inside.
-
Cool on a rack and enjoy!
