Bringing that Summer Energy Forward

It’s already mid-August! Summer is a time when we are able to spend more time outside and with friends and family doing different activities. It’s a time for vacations and a time to recharge our batteries. I realize in some parts of the country, school has started. Where I live, school starts after Labor Day so everyone is savoring these final weeks of summer. Even though I have an empty nest, I still have those feelings of trying to enjoy these last moments, with the anxiety of new beginnings, but I am happy I am not doing back to school shopping!

Considering work, I found that I approached work with the same vigor, but also allowed myself to enjoy the summer and reflect. Around this time of the summer, we might think about what we have achieved professionally. Have we met our goals? What do we need to do to finish the year with strength, ready to tackle our professional goals?

Heading into this time of change, you may also find you are thinking about your next job. After we’ve been refreshed, we might realize we need a new challenge. While you have summer energy and a clear head, map out your plan. It might be in your current place of employment or it might be time to look elsewhere.

Here are some tips to ease into the autumn with purpose:

  1. Create a fall bucket list. What would make you happy and help you be your best self?

  2. Write down your goals. This will help you remember them and keep track of your progress.

  3. Set personal deadlines. This is a great way to keep yourself motivated and inspired.

  4. Reward yourself for every short-term goal achieved. This will help you stay motivated and feel good about your progress.

  5. Journal for a fresh start. Fall marks a new beginning and a time for change. So, this is the perfect time to realign with your intentions for the year.

  6. Organize and refresh your space. Take some time to declutter and organize your home and your life.

  7. Find your new routine. Our daily routines tend to shift with the seasons. Your daily routine can include things like the way you spend your morning routine, your sleep schedule, your exercise of choice, and seasonal hobbies.

It is still summer! Don’t let retail bring you down as they display some of their products for a certain holiday in October. Enjoy these last weeks, and go into the new season with a great plan for career and life success.
